Sector-wide fundraising campaign to establish the Insurance Museum (IM) in London’s EC3; sharing our heritage, inspiring new talent and building public engagement.
About
Bridging the Gap Between the Public and the Insurance Sector
The IM Slip is the fundraising campaign to establish the Insurance Museum (IM); a world-class cultural and educational destination in London’s EC3, the historic heartland of insurance.
In insurance, a Slip records a shared responsibility for risk. The IM Slip reimagines that tradition; a shared commitment to education, culture and public understanding.
By signing, your company helps safeguard insurance heritage, inspire future talent and build public engagement; leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come.
Why?
Making the Invisible, Visible
Why?
Making the Invisible, Visible
Insurance underpins modern life, protecting people, enabling progress; and helping businesses, communities and individuals recover from loss, risk, or catastrophe when the unforeseen happens.
Yet despite its vital role, insurance remains largely invisible and often misunderstood.
The Insurance Museum will work to change that, acting as a catalyst for greater understanding by humanising and explaining the sector’s role in society, while inspiring current and future generations to see the opportunities that insurance offers.
What?
Bringing the Story of Insurance to life.
What?
Bringing the Story of Insurance to life.
The IM will bring the sector’s global story to life through a world-class museum, a cultural visitor centre in the heart of London’s EC3.
Alongside permanent exhibitions and curated displays, the IM will host talks, tours and travelling exhibitions; deliver digital content and films; and nurture collections and archives with free public access.
The IM will also run educational programmes for schools and colleges, complement wider sector initiatives and serve as a hub for learning, events and engagement.
When?
From Donation to Destination
When?
From Donation to Destination
Within 3 years of completing The Slip, the IM will open its doors; the culmination of the sector’s shared commitment to protect its heritage and inspire its future.
Your corporate or philanthriopic donation will enable us to recruit curators, education officers and operations staff; build and conserve collections; design and deliver exhibitions; develop school programmes; and importantly fit out the first physical IM for all to experience.
With continued support, the IM will remain a cultural anchor for education, exhibitions and engagement for generations to come.

How?
Underwriting the Museum Together
The IM will be funded in the same way insurance works, through shared responsibility.
Our target of £3m per year, will allow us to establish and fund the IM in London’s EC3, featuring exhibitions and education outreach; the IM will be a permanent cultural anchor for the sector and for society.
Corporate and philanthropic donors choose their annual giving level by signing The IM Slip (3-year minimum). Every donation is recognised on the IM Founders’ Wall, in media, and through exclusive previews.
Leaving a legacy that works to safeguard heritage, inspire talent and build better public understanding of the sector.
Who?
All Parts of the Sector, One Shared Story
Who?
All Parts of the Sector, One Shared Story
The Slip is open to the whole insurance ecosystem. Every part of the sector has a role to play – and if each of us contributes, together we will achieve our £3 million annual slip target.
All supporters will be recognised on the interactive IM Founders’ Wall, tiered by giving level, with stories and case studies added over time to celebrate the people and organisations underwriting this legacy.
When the £3 million annual Slip target is achieved, the journey to opening the Insurance Museum begins, with our doors set to open three years later. At that point, every IM Founder will be permanently honoured on the IM Founders’ Wall within the Museum itself, a lasting testament and legacy for those who helped make it possible.
From across the sector, every signature matters.

The IM Slip is a shared commitment to create the Insurance Museum – a world-class cultural and educational destination in London’s EC3.
You can pledge your support now or donate immediately. Every commitment brings us closer to our £3 million annual goal, the moment the countdown to opening begins.
Each IM Founder is invited to introduce three others from their network who may share your belief in protecting our sector’s legacy and inspiring its future.
Once the Slip is fully placed, we’ll contact all pledging IM Founders to confirm or collect their donations. Donors may also contribute straight away to help accelerate progress.
Together, through shared action, we’ll open the Insurance Museum three years from reaching our funding goal; safeguarding heritage, inspiring talent and building public understanding for generations to come.
