IM Chairman's Letter

Why the Insurance Museum (IM) is Important.

Insurance is one of society’s greatest enablers, quietly protecting lives, livelihoods, and progress every day. Yet for most people, it remains invisible, misunderstood, or seen only as a transaction.

The IM aims to change that.

It will bring the story of insurance to life, showing how it evolved from acts of solidarity into a global force for resilience and recovery. It will connect the public and the profession, helping people see that insurance isn’t just about loss; it’s about possibility.

For the sector, it’s an opportunity to rebuild trust, inspire new generations and establish a foundation stone for the cultural and educational future of the global insurance market – in London’s EC3.

For the public, the IM isn’t just a museum; it’s a bridge connecting people and the insurance sector. It will help audiences better understand the vital role insurance plays in everyday life, protecting everything that matters, from homes and businesses to innovation and art.

By building wider understanding of what insurance can do, we create greater opportunity for it to protect others and help mitigate future risks, not yet written.

The IM will only happen with the financial support of those who know its value best, our own sector.

So, will your company sign the IM Slip and help us underwrite the future?

Thank you

For underwriting the future.

A member from the OB Team will be in touch on behalf of IM to confirm your donation and to liaise on IM payment details.

We’ll also discuss materials for you to share with your network; helping you introduce 3 more organisations or network to The Slip, to grow our collective impact.

We look forward to talking soon.
